Day 2 - He Rests

Heaven and Earth were finished,
down to the last detail.

By the seventh day
God had finished his work.
On the seventh day
he rested from all his work.
God blessed the seventh day.
He made it a Holy Day
Because on that day he rested from his work,
all the creating God had done.

This is the story of how it all started,

of Heaven and Earth when they were created.

{Genesis 2:1-4 MSG}

Lord, this is the day that you have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! You are creator God, master artist, sculpture, painter of the earth and sky. You breath and life forms. O Lord, on the seventh day you finished your work of creation. You rested and set apart the day. 

I believe it must have been that to declare the day holy was to set it apart. You are perfect and all things find their completion in you. So there is no need to weary over creation because you do all things perfectly well. 

Lord, this is not our way as humans. We have fallen away from your instructions. We are weary in our labor outside the Garden. Lord, teach us to take your rest. Teach us to find our rest securely in you. 

Guide us in wisdom throughout this week so that we can find satisfaction in our work and prepare for your rest. Let us not forget that we who are called by your name are holy. And let the day when we find true rest in you be called holy. Amen.
