Day 6 - Refuge

My heart is learning that true rest begins with meditating on God's word. It means prayer and continually turning over my worries unto the Lord's caring and capable hands. Rest requires trust.

In a week when it feels like we've experienced an on slot of trials, like arrows that fly by night, we can rest secure by trusting in God's promises. Psalm 91 puts it like this...

Day 4 - Time Out

My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”
And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

I gave myself a time out today. Life can feel so chaotic at times as we move from one thing to the next. Mix in bills and car repairs, dishes and laundry, and of course the unexpected crises [plural] that erupt just to throw it all into a whirl wind. It can leave one feeling breathless and broken in the fray.

It's good to slow and set yourself aside from it all for a bit. Because before you know it, the kids are in the door, and homework, shoe piles, Legos, and laundry take over the quiet. And if we're not careful we become unraveled, like that sweater that you just bought but the thread was pulled and now you're left undone.

Day 2 - He Rests

Heaven and Earth were finished,
down to the last detail.
By the seventh day
God had finished his work.
On the seventh day
he rested from all his work.
God blessed the seventh day.
He made it a Holy Day
Because on that day he rested from his work,
all the creating God had done.
This is the story of how it all started,
of Heaven and Earth when they were created.

Lord, this is the day that you have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it! You are creator God, master artist, sculpture, painter of the earth and sky. You breath and life forms. O Lord, on the seventh day you finished your work of creation. You rested and set apart the day.
